11/27  Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center,  10am-1Pm. high
tide-receding, 46F, partly cloudy.
Another beautiful morning at the coastal center. Several visitors
and photographers. One early visitor said they saw a Merlin fly through the
gardens & scatter all the birds.
On the marsh: ( viewed with bins & scopes) 5 American black ducks, 4
mallards,  4 Buffleheads further out,
1 Northern Harrier coasting over, 1 Mute swan,  2 Gadwalls as the tide was
receding.
On the grounds & feeders:  1 white breasted nuthatch, 19 House sparrows  at
feeders & brush pile, 10 House finches, 6 Mourning doves, 2 Tufted titmice,
2 Chickadees, 2 Northern Cardinals and 1 Cooper's Hawk on the brush pile
actively pursuing some prey .  The Cooper's hawk was hopping on the pile
and clawing at it.
I took a brief walk with some visitors along Long Island Sound hoping for
some Snow buntings or Horned larks, but didn't see any. There were some
Brant, Canada Geese, 4 Red breasted mergansers and a Loon on the sound.
