Many of us go into trawlers to extend our boating years and to be safer, drier, more practical and comfortable.I sold my perfectly good 31ft sloop so my wife could have a library on board, a better kitchen, full communications The ICW comment had to do with my obsevations as to singlehanders-my observation is more guys than girls, my observation on this list is more guys than girls-more gearhead ,than where to go what to do. Tell me the truth do you really think that the Idlewilde adventure, build/drag throught the artic,zip around the world almost without stopping and then selling-would be anything other than a male thing.? I did not cruise alone, but could handle both boats. I began as a sailor. Just remember the adage: 'Old sailors never die, they just move on to trawlers that go the same slow speed... but are more comfortable'...or something like that. Age? Not that it matters, but coming on 77 next month. I have also been up/down the east coast ICW several times. What's your point?
