A recent article in Passage Maker has made  me realize that
the ethynol gasoline has probably made its way into the
marina gas pumps. Anyone had a problem with their
fiberglass tanks and/or engines? Who is responsible for
this nightmare.  I have fiberglass tanks and concerned
about the safety of the boat.  Capt. Mimi

Capt. Mimi and List:

I have no first-hand experience, but BoatUS has this to say:
http://www.boatus.com/Seaworthy/fueltest.asp

In case you aren't where you can get fast 'net access, the article is
not encouraging.  Ethanol seems to make the tanks deteriorate, and
the dissolved residues getting to the engine can cause damage there.

Frankly, I would be very worried if my boat had fiberglass
tanks.  For gas or diesel.  We haven't seen the end of the re-formulations yet.
