I remember seeing a posting on this reflector in the last year or two
about how to disable the PC's serial mouse so a Thunderbolt can be used
on the serial port with no ill effects. Thought I saved that email, but
can't find it.
Anyone remember how to disable the serial mouse? Or where the
posting/reference is?
Thanks.

Just go into the hardware manager and delete the new mouse device.

Yeah, assuming you're running windows, add the /FASTDETECT switch to
boot.ini. Details at:

Thanks Scott and others.
Turns out that /FASTDETECT was already in my boot.ini but I had the
problem anyway.
Robert's suggestion to use Device Manager to disable the serial mouse
worked and I'm in business.
Appreciate the help from everyone.

All:
Which of the Rubidium standards are included in the Lucent RFTG-m-RB
time and frequency unit? Approximately how old are they?
Any pointers to documentation?
Thanks,

On machines W2000 and before you added a switch in BOOT.INI "/NoSerialMice".
On XP and maybe earlier, you can go to the mouse and disable the serial
mouse.
