Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsI have a 2005 Yamaha 15hp 4 stroke on Sedona's dinghy. Last fall I got some
water in the gas from a leaking fuel tank gauge. It didn't run very well after
that even without water so I had the carb rebuilt in October by the
certified Yamaha tech in Manteo, NC and it ran great. In December in Marathon it ran
great getting us from the mooring field to the local watering holes.
Now, with no water in the gas that I can find, it has started to have a
distinct hesitation and miss when the throttle is advanced just above idle. It
spits and then catches its breath. It acts like it would like to die but
doesn't. Idle is extremely smooth and wide open is very fast. Starting is harder
too. Misses and dies until it is a little warmer.
I called the tech who rebuilt the carb and got nowhere. He is one of those
"you're ignorant and I'm not" type of guys.
Has anyone else heard of this?
