Greetings NCL Board members, One of the things we need to do Tuesday is provisionally elect officers for 2015-16. (“Provisionally" because it’s not official until the board approves the entire slate of directors on the 7th.) As you know, we have two officers willing to/interested in continuing for another year: President (Jeff Carter) Treasurer (Marty Finsterbusch) Open positions: Vice-President Secretary Two quick things about the open positions: 1. Secretary ≠ note-taker. The Secretary’s job is (among other record-keeping duties) to make sure notes are taken at official meetings of the board — but that doesn’t mean that they have to take the actual notes — just make sure someone does, and then review them, and send them out. 2. On our board, Vice-President has the least specific tasks associated with it. Ideally, the Vice-President is at least interested and available to run for President the following year. But that doesn’t have to be so (and in practice has almost never been so on our board). I don’t want to scare off a potential candidate for Vice-President because they think they are committing to serving as President next year if they take on the VP role now. I’ve talked to a few of the returning board members about the open positions, but not all of you (sorry). Some agreed to mull it over. (Thanks!)
