Anyone tried the above-mentioned replacements for the cover on sea water
intake screens?  They permit attachment of a hose for winterizing.

We installed the Groco version, Safety Seacock Conversion (SSC) Series
Engine Flush Kit. It comes in sizes from 3/4 inch to 3 inch. We used the 1
1/4 inch size. All you have to do is close the valve, remove the engine
hose, unthread the hose-barb from the seacock, thread the flush kit in
place, and reattach the hose. It is a job to do this as most of you know. We
found that cutting about 2 inches off the hose allows everything to lay
right, since the new fitting is about 2 inches longer.

It works quite well and certainly makes winterizing a lot more convenient.
