Hi Georgs & Norleen...
Just a note to let you know that Rick Austin (T-W-Listee from Austin, TX)
and Greg Hunt (another listee, although more of a "lurking" participant
than an active e-mail contributor thus far) were here in Anacortes, WA over
the weekend.  They came out to the Seattle area on business, but took the
opportunity to come up and do a "site survey" of the area and a "check out"
of a 38' Puget trawler that Rick and his wife Judy have chartered from
PenMar next September.
They both met Pam and me at Flounder Bay Yacht Club (our YC) and came
aboard PassageMaker about 11 a.m.  We "built a fire" (both figuratively
engine-wise, and literally heater-wise) and let go the lines at 11:25 for a
quick turn around Burrows Island and back.  Of course, the dead calm but
overcast conditions deteriorated immediately after releasing the lines, but
we went anyway.  Had 27 kts of wind on our return, making the narrow
fairway approach a little dicey, but with a couple of extra hands aboard
(including my dad), PassageMaker was put back in her slip without any
problem.
We really enjoyed Rick's and Greg's visit....and the great lunch at
BrewHouse with them after our 'cruise'.  Looking forward to Rick's and
Judy's return in September for a 10 day charter & perhaps we may get to
join them for a couple of days in the San Juan Islands.
Just a moment ago, I received a call from Dave Stahl (another T-W-Listee)
from the Chesapeake Bay area who is in Anacortes to visit his Naval Officer
son.  Unfortunately we already are committed to semi-host a "welcome
aboard" function at the YC for our newly moved-in caretaker, otherwise it
would have been a terrific opportunity to meet some other listees.
Anyway, this was intended as a short note to let you know that T-W-List
has facilitated not only an electronic introduction medium, but also the
opportunity to meet personally with folks who participate on the list.
We look forward to meeting other folks who might be passing through or
visiting our delightful little piece of paradise in the Pacific Northwest.
BTW:  Today is absolutely gorgeous:  55 degrees, nearly cloudless,
brilliant sunshine an ESE breeze at 10 kts.  Lots of folks taking advantage
of a lovely day.
Warmest regards & cheers!
