Bob Smith of American Diesel says that the correct amount of oil for the SP135 is 14.5 gallons. However, when I drain the oil using a Par pump that comes mounted on top of a three gallon pail that I hook up to the spout on the hand pump I only drain about 12 quarts. Even manually using the hand pump afterwards does not drain any additional oil. As info I pierce the top of the oil filter so I believe most of that oil drains into the engine. How much oil do other people get when they drain their engines? Should I be adding 14.5 quarts after draining 12 quarts?
