Counters and Observers
A huge thank you for the great support all our counters and observers have
given us this Season. Special thanks for the awesome amount of time and
effort you have spent with Liz and me on the Tower to; Aldo, Andrew, Bob,
Chad, Chip, Chuck, David, Jane, Jacob, Jeremy B, Jeremy H, John, Juliette,
Kara, Karen, Kit, Larry, Lisa, Matt, Michael, Mike, Nicole, Noel, Patrick,
Paul G, Paul P, Peter and Steve. Hope to see you all next year!

Weather:
A more benign day today with a moderate wind from the south south west,
scattered clouds with sunny intervals and good visibility. The temperature
started at 2c and ended at what seemed a mild 9c.

Raptor Observations:
A quiet day as befits the last of the season. Two Bald Eagles looking
determined enough to be migrating, a Red-tailed Hawk way off to the north,
a dishevelled looking Turkey Vulture and the last raptor of the
season........a Cooper's Hawk!

Non-raptor Observations:
Many, many Mallards (7,160) huddled around patches of open water with a few
other dabbling ducks to be spotted amongst them. A full house of Mergansers

  • Common (12), Hooded (7) and Red-breasted (2). A few small birds
reappeared after two very cold days including fly overs of Horned Lark
(16), American Pipit (6), Cedar Waxwing (40) and the inevitable American
Goldfinch (210). Wrens and Sparrows were again around the Tower. The list
    is at https://ebird.org/canada/checklist/S155498232

Predictions:
No more predictions, its the last day of the season. Hope to see you all
next year!
