Join us for the 2025 Tacoma Wayzgoose letterpress, printmaking, and book arts extravaganza, our 18th year! The Tacoma Wayzgoose is a collaboration between Write253, King's Books, Tacoma Public Library, and the letterpress community. This year Wayzgoose will be two days: Friday 5/2 and Saturday 5/3. Friday will be Education Day, featuring field trip opportunities for local middle and high schools. Saturday will be more like Wayzgoose-as-usual. Both days will be open to the public and both days will feature vendors and steamroller prints, it's just that Friday will be more intentionally set up for youth participants.
IMPORTANT: If you wish to apply to be a vendor and to do a steamroller print, you will need to fill out both applications at write253.org/tacoma-wayzgoose
Dates: Friday, May 2nd (Education Day) 10am-5pm and Saturday, May 3rd 10am-5pm (Setup times and logistics will be sent closer to the event.)
Location: Tacoma Public Library Main Branch (1102 Tacoma Ave. S. in Tacoma)
Form Deadline: February 14, 2025
Notification of acceptance: the week of March 3, 2025
Steamroller Printers:We have twelve (12) spots available, and we strive to include new artists in each festival. Artists carve 24x36 inch linoleum plates and prints will be on 30x44 inch paper.

Each artist is required to have at least one volunteer on hand to help ink and move the plate, place the paper, or remove the print.
Our theme this year is Make Some Noise! The focus is on the music of Tacoma, and you can think of this term in a variety of ways: Tacoma's musical history (artists, venues, events), the music of the city, the music of Tacoma's natural world...Anything related to how you hear the music of Tacoma!  Only artists based in Tacoma/Pierce County are eligible to apply.
We prioritize new artists over recurring artists to give as many artists as possible the opportunity to create steamroller prints. New artists are highly encouraged to apply! BIPOC, LGTBQIA+, and artists not traditionally represented in the printmaking community are also strongly encouraged to apply. The linoleum and paper will be provided free to the artists and available after selections are made.
A minimum of four (4) of the twelve (12) spots will be reserved for local high schools. Colleges, universities, and community organizations are also welcome to apply.
Artists typically create (5) five steamroller prints, one of which is donated to be raffled off to support future Wayzgoose events. The prints from each year's event are displayed at multiple locations over the following year which often result in further opportunities for artists to sell prints. Artists are free to sell the prints for whatever price they set. (Artists keep all the prints, except for the one that's raffled off.)
For more information about the event, applications, volunteering and fundraising, we'll have a table set up at the Tacoma Public Library Main Branch reopening celebration on February 1st, 10am-5pm. We'll be on the 2nd floor at Write253's new space—come print your free Tacoma Wayzgoose Save-the-Date keepsake!
Hope to see y'all there! The Tacoma Wayzgoose Committee
