Autoconfig for addons

Hi devs

When adding a new existing mail account, Thunderbird inspects the
content of the directory https://autoconfig.thunderbird.net/v1.1/ to
find this mail account settings....

I'd like to add some kind of autoconfig for CardBook and I was wondering
if it wasn't possible to have such a web directory for addons who were
searching for CardDAV, CalDAV (Lightning ?), EAS (TbSync ?), etc...
settings.

Would you agree to have such directory|ies ?..

Philippe

The config file format is intended to capture this. I can add
corresponding definitions to the format. I'd need you to tell me what
exact data you need, for what purposes, and why you can't find it out
automatically. I'll also need references to specs, examples, test
accounts etc. But if we work on this together, I can add it. After we
got the spec, we can add concrete configs for the big ISPs to the ISP DB.

Then, I need to know the settings for each ISP, and be able to test
them. I also need to know whether all users of the ISP or mail server
have these features available, or whether it's a paid user feature only.
I think most of the time, they are available to everybody, e.g.
outlook.com either supports a calendar or doesn't.
