Supplementary anchor light

We've heard three stories this last year from boaters who were run down at anchor while displaying proper anchor lights. It didn't sound fun.

I cut four 2.5 X 4.75" panels out of the side of a plastic 1/2 gallon vinegar jug so I could fit an uninflated LuciLite inside. I cut some more out of the top so it would get more light and secured the top and bottom of the jug so I could suspend it under the Bimini. I'm sure there are better ways to do this, a mesh container?

It's amazing how bright this is and how long it lasts after it sits outside all day.

This is the first I have heard of the LuciLite.  Nice item.  In addition to
our anchor light, if I get the feeling I may need additional lighting when
anchored overnight, I hang a battery powered LED camping lantern where it
can be seen.  I also have four LED overhead lights in the hardtop of my boat
I wouldn't hesitate to leave on.

Over "here" when I anchor, I have an LED light in my RPH and one on my aft
deck.

I no longer use my anchor light.

I was "visited by the Coast Guard who "suggested" I rethink my lights one
gloomy night in an anchorage that was soon dark one could imagine the
gremlins lurking.

The CG PB came up quite quietly and slowly. I was sitting on my as deck and
heard him first, then saw his running lights.

He got quite close but never touched.

He was relieved that I spoke some Turkish. the Admiral was already asleep.

He noted that he could not see my hull so even though my anchor light was
on, he suggested that I put on some more lights.

That is how I got to where I am today.

There is a FRENCH maritime court ruling against a sailboat with his anchor
light lit being found mostly at fault for a collision as the light was not
enough to illuminate the boat's hull form.

So, as with Bob Austin, this is now how I light LeeZe at anchor.
