I believe we've already seen the slow down in selling traffic in our neighborhood!!! The increase in TAXATION will price out many of the prospective buyers... considering as it is....we are in the mid 400s to over 650s... that translates to about $200/month or more to that monthly mortgage!!! which would price out many buyers!!! I think it's part of the HUGE reason why the buyer traffic is much slower in our neighborhood now. I am sure some of the realtors in our neighborhood could provide some data on this too. Which is another point of contention for the legislation that annexation hurts homeowners and homebuyers!

I followed the link provided and it took me less than 3 minutes to complete
the correspondence to both the House and Senate. Regardless of whether it
is a group letter or individual letters, it is very important that everyone
do this. I talked with a realtor friend and she said that once we get
annexed, we will have increased difficulty in selling our houses. Our
address will no longer be Boerne. It will become San Antonio, like the
folks east of us (Scenic Oaks on down). Although our school district
boundaries will not be affected, those searching online for homes will
likely exclude us because they THINK we are not in Boerne ISD. Aside from
that, response times for emergency services will be disastrous. I don't
know how many of you have called 911 in SA, but you have to go through a
phone tree to get to anyone. It is ludicrous. We are on the far reaches
of their already overburdened system. I don't think anyone should expect a
rapid response in times of emergency. These are my motivating factors for
taking action. Hopefully, others will take three minutes to prevent this
from happening.

meeting and after hearing from House Representation Lyle Larson and Senator
Donna Campbell, I am very hopeful and optimistic that this legislation has
a real chance of passage in this legislative session. As a homeowner as
well as a Board Member, I felt an obligation to send this to all my friends
and neighbors. I think it is incumbent that every one of us in Limestone
Ranch get involved. If we get annexed into the city, we all stand to pay
an additional tax of $2000 per year or more to the City of San Antonio.
From what I heard yesterday, this is what I now know:1. There are 28
states in the USA that require the voters to approve annexation of their
property before it can be annexed. It is truly amazing that Texas is NOT
one of those states, but rather allows forced annexation. Now the City of
San Antonio can incorporate our area without us having any voice or vote in
the matter. The proposed legislation would require a majority of the
homeowners to vote for and approve any annexation plans before they could
be enacted. HB299 is the Lyle Larson bill and there is a companion bill HB
424. Senator Campbell has proposed S 715. 2. If we become a part of San
Antonio they will be unable to provide essential police and fire services
short term and perhaps even long term. We will lose the police protection
of the Bexar County Sheriff's Department and our volunteer emergency
responders--both EMS and fire. In the years I have lived in Limestone
Ranch I have seen these agencies increase in abilities and response
time.3. The only motivation the City of San Antonio has to annex our
subdivision is to generate additional quantities of tax revenue. Since we
are a gated community, we have to pay the same amount of taxes but the City
doesn't even have to repave our streets. This will remain the obligation
of the HOA and the homeowners.4. Strong forces such as the Urban League as
well as wealthy and influential cities are trying very hard to defeat the
legislation. They are bringing enormous pressure to bear on the members of
both Houses.I hope you are asking by now.....what can I do to help. You
can do the following:1. Go to the following website and study the issues.
http://www.homeownersagainstannexation.com. There are excellent
resources on this website for your use. An FAQ section can be found
athttp://www.homeownersagainstannexation.com/p/get-facts_3.html.2. Write
a letter to each of the committees who are acting on the legislation.
There is a link that will allow you to send a form letter to each of the
committee members on both the House and Senate committees. http://www.
homeownersagainstannexation.com/p/get-in-touch_24.html#/. You can also
write your own personal letter if you'd prefer. 3. Call each of the
Committee members and let them know you enthusiastically support the
legislation and want their support as well.4. If you have the time, join
the contingents going to Austin to be heard in person.5. Contact Governor
Greg Abbott's office and let him know you support passage of the
legislation and ask him to sign it into law at the appropriate time.
Abbott's veto would kill the bill. As many of you are aware, legislation in
Texas only takes place every 2 years and moves at a fast pace. This
legislation will most likely succeed or fail prior to mid summer. The
Committees are supposed to consider the legislation in the next 2-3 weeks.
If it successfully moves out of Committee, it will go before the full
membership of the Texas House and Senate for a vote. (Two years ago it
passed in the Senate but never went to the House for a vote. Time ran
out.) It is essential that you not delay in taking action and doing your
part. In less than 2 hours time you can fully study the issues and make
your voice heard on this legislation. If enough of us are heard, this
legislation has an excellent chance of passage. Thank you for helping to
make this legislation a reality in Texas.Greg AndersonLimestone Ranch HOA

The increase in TAXATION will price out many of the prospective buyers... considering as it is....we are in the mid 400s to over 650s... that translates to about $200/month or more to that monthly mortgage!!! which would price out many buyers!!! I think it's part of the HUGE reason why the buyer traffic is much slower in our neighborhood now. I am sure some of the realtors in our neighborhood could provide some data on this too. Which is another point of contention for the legislation that annexation hurts homeowners and homebuyers!
