Sterling: Two solenoids? Wow, opportunity for double trouble. Just kidding - one for up and one for down? Are both kaput, i.e., will winch raise only or lower only? Could be that moisture got into the solenoid. We have had some precip lately! Test by bypassing and shorting solenoid. If that works, then: Take it off and bake it for 20 minutes at your lowest oven heat. See what happens.
