With several thousand waterfowl congregating between Hickey's Point on Howe
Island and Holiday Bay on Wolfe Island, in the open water of the St-Lawrence
River I counted 10 Bald Eagles today @ 4PM sitting on the ice (2 adults and
8 immature).  Among the waterfowl present were Mute Swan (2), Canada Goose,
Mallard, Black Duck, Bufflehead, American Wigeon, Common Goldeneye, Common
Merganser, and Red-breasted Merganser. As well there was about 500 gulls,
mostly Ring-billed.  There is a lot of ice flow making it easy for the
waterfowl to sit out of the water and sleep.  This area can be viewed from
Goodfriend Road on Howe Island (or come to my address and walk down to the
shore), and best viewed using a spotting scope.

Happy spring birding!
