On May 6, 2017, I'll be taking part in JDRF One Walk to change the
future for everyone affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D).
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s
pancreas loses the ability to produce insulin–a hormone essential
to turning food into energy. People with T1D must regularly monitor
their blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin through a pump, and
carefully balance their doses with eating and daily activities.
JDRF is funding research for new treatments that will make living with
this disease easier and healthier—until there is a cure.
