Three years ago I installed two Firefly batteries on my Willard 30. So far
so good. I am wondering if anyone on the list has used Fireflies for much
longer times, eg 8-10 years and can report on their performance over a long
term.

Richard,

I installed my 368 Ahr Firefly battery bank (24v) of Group 31s for my
inverter in July 2016. Not much more experience than you, but so far so
good for me as well.  I (almost) completely ignore them! Due to the Firefly
flexibility, I was able to replace a 470 Ahr AGM battery bank (8Ds!) with
no reduction in service.

Be safe!
Bob

Hi Richard,
Not sure they've been around 8 or 10 years yes, but if they have certainly
not many installed in boats. That said, I've been installing them for 3 or 4
years, and have installed somewhere between 80 and 100  as of now. I got one
bad batch (12) a couple of years ago and installed them on two boats. All
failed by just losing capacity at about the same time. Both boats, both with
solar and large inverter systems (one Victron and one Magnum) failed with
almost identical symtoms. Firefly replaced all with no issues after I
provided serial numbers. I suspect it was a known problem. I've done
anything from a small 2 battery bank up to a few boats with 10 of the 31's.
The rest are mostly on cruising boats out there doing it. I keep in touch
with many of these customers and all report good performance and are very
happy with the batteries. I jokingly call them a "poor man's Lithium".

Hope that helps some!
Discalimer: I do have a marine service company in Texas specializing in
electrical systems and am a dealer for Firefly as well as many other brands.
