A cool, partially sunny morning on April 26 brought some excellent warblers
into Thickson's Woods, Whitby. To have a down-low tail-wagging Palm Warbler
pose for 5 minutes, to see a head-high Pine Warbler sing while holding a
piece of cone in its beak, to have a sun-basking Black-throated Warbler on a
nearby limb, and to appreciate the likes of Blue-gray Gnatcatcher,
Blue-headed Vireo, Purple Finch, Eastern Towhee, Chipping Sparrow and
Rose-breasted Grosbeak, among others, we hope is a precursor to incoming
songbird migrants arriving off Lake Ontario.

2 Virginia Rails were seen at nearby Corbett Creek.

Access from the 401 onto Thickson Rd.South in east Whitby; drive straight
down towards the lake, turning left before you reach the wooded area on your
left.
