Jeff - I very recently bought a Samsung Omnia WinMo Pro 6.1 phone (Verizon).
Had to buy an external GPS (Globalsat BT-368i) to work with your software -
couldn't wait for VZ to unlock the phone GPS and don't want to fool around
with underground ROM's. The phone, GPS, and your software all appear to work
as advertised. I use the word "appear" because I have not had time to learn
how to use any of them properly. Despite 41 years in the IT business (yes, I
started with mainframes), I still need a good technical reference for Windows
Mobile Pro. Do you know of one?
I looked very carefully at the iPhone. Very clever device, but ..... no
tethering, no multi-tasking, and ATT&T 3G coverage maps look mighty skinny
compared to Verizon. Oh, and I got the Omnia for $0 because I am an existing
Verizon customer.
The Globalsat GPS receiver is amazing. Time to first fix is wicked fast and it
maintains position while mounted inside the main cabin (not even close to
windows). How does it do that? Bluetooth keeps the phone up to date no
matter where the phone is on the boat. While traveling south on the Potomac
River on Tuesday, I was able to use the phone's internet connection to track a
vicious storm on weather radar. I was also able to use the phone as a backup
chartplotter, (simultaneously) in case the main one screwed up (it has in the
past). We dropped anchor in the Coan River 45 minutes before the storm blast
hit.
Awesome!!

The best info I've seen on Windows Mobile is on the Microsoft site.
Although to be honest, I've never read any of it. I think I just
clicked on the different "Settings" items to see what was available.
It's all pretty consistent.
If you've gotten tethering to work, you've done the hardest thing
possible on Windows Mobile - the rest is all really pretty simple.
Awesome!!
It truly is incredible what can be done today.
My boat is currently sitting in the slings, blocked, and ready for a
6:30 am launching. I am so ready to be going back in the water...
