I am considering purchase of an inflatable kayak. I don't have room to store
rigid kayaks in addition to dingy and all other toys.

Has anyone had experience with these  kayaks?  Any recommendations?

Thanks

3 or 4 years ago, I bought a 13' regular kayak for 1000$. Almost never used
it, too much trouble to carry on top of car and no room for it aboard the
boat.

Then I discovered Advanced Elements and I bought the 400$ Advanced Frame
(one person). So much fun ! At the shop, about performance, "they" told me I
would see a huge difference with a fiberglass model, but I don't. This
little thing runs fast and straight. The external envelope is extremely
strong, the kayak is comfortable and stable in the water.  It won't sink,
even full of water. And it's easy to bring it back aboard. No scratch, no
bumps.

That said, I'm not a long distance kayaker. I don't think I've done more
than 3 or 4 miles in a row. But I enjoyed every second of it.

There are some terrific inflatable kayaks out there that actually paddle
very well.  The rigid frame and skin style was a big improvement for
inflatables and beats the heck out of the old folding boats for durability.
There is always the statement that it "depends on what you want to do with
it."  But, this is very true.  For the mother of all kayak info and reviews
check out www.paddling.net  I agree with Bryan, Advance Elements makes some
nice boats.  Look at

s

Full disclosure:  We advertise our kayak mothership tours on paddling.net.
