hummingbirds in Lyme

The hummingbird activity here in Lyme has picked up significantly lately.
There are at least 10 hummingbirds and probably more swarming around our
mimosa tree and going back and forth to the feeder and other flowers.  Is
this the start of the migration already (seems a bit early) or are these
locals who are stocking up for their long flight to their wintering grounds?

I've had a big increase here too and I think it's just normal migration.  I
understand that the older adults go early and the youngsters follow when
they get mature enough.
