My definition of a scam is where a product or service is paid for and not
delivered. If any one has paid one of these services for a renewal and not
received it, please let us all know. Phil posted that he paid for 5 year
renewal and was told that the renewals will be sent yearly. I can
understand the frustration and disappointment, but until years 2-5 don't
show up, it isn't a scam. Although Phil's case may fall into a special
category since he notified them not to send them. I don't like the close
resemblance to the official web site either, but until they fail to produce
what was paid for, I find it difficult to label them a scam. On the other
hand, keep posting, I just might change my mind, especially if some legal
eagles post relevant information.

The design of the website, the correspondence, the reaction from the
USCG and Boat/US along with all the other warnings appearing on this and
many other forums are all indicative of a business that uses deceit as
an integral part of its business model. That's undeniable. It's not a
business that garners a lot of positive reviews, other than the dubious
"testimonials" on its own website. If you do a bit of research into its
principal, you'll find bits & pieces that share a common thread, and
that thread is just slimy. I'm with Rich, quacks like a duck. ...
