I was told there were woodcocks in Guilford at Jared Elliot Preserve. Has anyone seen them there lately? Any other reliable spots? Thank you. Nancy

Hello Nancy -
Checking on eBird, there have been Woodcocks seen at the Jared Eliot Preserve as recently as March 30th: https://ebird.org/hotspot/L1405392/bird-list
Perhaps someone who visits the preserve regularly has been there more recently and can share whether they are still displaying.
American Woodcock breed around us and are present year-round to some degree, but the best time to observe them is when they are doing their mating displays which typically peak in March. Checking any areas with open fields, especially near damp woods or brushy areas, is probably still worthwhile.
