Illegals, drugs, nukes, whatever. They are there to protect US. I am pro
civil liberties BUT, the water can be a big lonesome place. We all love to
have the CG there when we need them, so let's all cut them a little slack
and give them the benefit of the doubt. I agree that it can sometimes get
out of hand. However, just imagine it was your young son or daughter out
there in the middle of the night stopping unknown vessels not knowing who or
what they were going to encounter. It's not an easy job and for the most
part they do it very well. I for one get warm and fuzzy knowing I can pick
up the VHF and shout out for help anytime I might need it. I am as tough as
the next guy but not as tough as a boat load of 20 year olds with automatic
weapons and the might and authority of the entire country behind them. :-) I
say be nice, be patient, and tell them how much you appreciate them just
being there.

Thanks for this post, sometimes people don't get the big picture of what
these guys are up against everyday, being stopped is a small price to pay
for the security that they give us.
