16 hardy souls braved the chill for the New Haven Bird Club First Wednesday
Walk (postponed from last week). It was an excellent morning with the
marsh full of ducks, Piping Plovers and Oystercatchers (2 in flagrante
delicto) present in good numbers and an opportunity to test the gull skills
we learned at Saturday's COA Gull workshop. 38 species plus one taxa in
all (once I added the gulls, plus a flock of 10 Waxwings that flew in to be
counted at the last minute). Brant were very abundant but the Snowy Owl
seen a couple of days ago was absent. Thank you to all who attended!
