Milt -
I have always signed up for unlimited with TBUS just because the opportunity
comes at the same time as membership renewal. I called them once but got off
before they arrived. They have been most helpful, however, when asked about
local knowledge. For instance, rounding #6 100-200' off the end of the north
jetty in Barnegat Inlet rather than coming straight in from the sea buoy.
However, it seems to me that Sea Tow has bigger boats in general than TBUS
and I have often wondered if some of them could actually pull us off.

Which offers better "unlimited towing" service, TowBoatUS or SeaTow?
Now that Bluewater is back in the USA, I'd like to sign up for one of the
"unlimited
towing" services, either TowBoatUS or SeaTow. A quick online check shows
the
prices are competitive ($118/year for TowBoatUS and $149/year less 15% from
SeaTow.
My own experience along the Eastern Seaboard shows that TowBoatUS and SeaTow
seem
to cover the waterfront about equally.
For those of you who have been down this road before, are there significant
advantages/disadvantages
of going with one or the other? Lesson one to me was that "unlimited towing"
for both has a specific definition that definitely does not mean UNLIMITED
TOWING.
Both have some weasel words in their service agreements about service in and
out
of one's home port or home area, a concern since we expect to cruise in the
Bahamas and cover the east coast from south Florida to Down East Maine.
Thanks for any insights or input you can provide!
