Call to Actors!
The Broadway Center for the Performing Arts is conducting auditions for 2 actors (prefer 1male, 1 female) to join the company of a new touring show- Being Bridges--an original 35-minute theatre piece which explores and honors the legacy of civil rights in America from the 1920s to the present day. Being Bridges is crafted specifically for K-12 school audiences and plays as an assembly at schools throughout the south sound through the month of January. Actors are paid for two weeks of rehearsal (mostly evenings) and three weeks of touring performances, which take place during the school day. Rehearsals will begin in early December and performances will run from January 7th through 25th.
Audition Date: November 17th from noon to 2pm. Actors will be read on a first-come, first-served basis, and each audition will last between 10 and 20 minutes at the most. You may be asked to read with another actor.
Location: 915 Broadway, Tacoma, WA 98402- Studio 1 (the blue entrance on Broadway)
Preparation: Please bring a head shout and resume and prepare a 1 minute piece (need not be memorized, but should be prepared) from a play, poem, speech or essay that addresses issues of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's contributions, black history, or civil rights in America. Actors may also be asked to read excerpts from past or current Broadway Center civil rights productions.
