Weather: We started today with overcast skies, but it began to clear around noon. The barometer remained steady around 30.36inHg. Winds came from the NNE - ENE at 14kph. The temperature rose from 5C to 9C. The lower temperatures and wind definitely kept us chilly. Raptor Observations: It was a bit of a disappointment today. The weather conditions were ‘perfect’ but only 148 raptors were seen. Turkey Vulture claimed the highest species count: 77 today. Red-tails came in second with 44. All other species were seen in single digits: Harrier, Sharp-shin, Bald Eagle, Coop, and Red-shouldered. A single Golden Eagle flew past nice and low in the morning; the white in its wings was visible naked-eye. Non-raptor Observations: The morning brought crows in several large flocks; smaller numbers were seen in the afternoon (2,755 total). Predictions: Tomorrow may be similar to today. Winds are predicted to be ESE around 15-20kph.
