When we went to survey 2 years ago a 12000btu marine airrrrr split unit for 2 forward cabins had given up between the prior month and the survey. I had it replaced with a 9000btu Marinair, not marineair unit from folks in Florida. We bought Boat in Ft Myers so they shipped it to the brokers office and and Tom from Marinewerks did the install. Entire unit fit under shelf in hanging closet where the old condenser was, so could reuse wiring, condensate hose, venting, etc and is quiet enough, cheap enough and has a remote. We were fortunate that he only needed to run new hose for raw water but turned out uncomplicated, it can happen. If it’s too proprietary for someone to fix it’s easy to unbolt, light enough for me to pick up and put in a box and ship it back for repair. It was mostly a guess but I figured a modern, more efficient smaller unit would do the job and it will freeze you out of those 2 cabins if I cover the hatches during the day. Maybe not top of the line so ask me again for my 10 year long term review.
