Lighthouse Point Park, New Haven, 10/27/17, 6:45am-4:00pm    - 35 Migrating Hawks. 4 Turkey Vulture, 2 Osprey, 1 Bald Eagle, 2 Northern Harrier (1 Gray Ghost), 11 Sharp-shinned Hawk, 5 Cooper’s Hawk, 1 Northern Goshawk, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, 1 Red-tailed Hawk, 1 Merlin, 1 Unknown Accipiter, 2 Unknown Buteo, 1 Unknown Eagle, and 2 Unknown Raptor. A Rough-legged Hawk was also seen today, but it is not being recorded as a migrating hawk because it was heading east instead of west. It seemed to have come from the direction of New Haven Harbor and continued to fly east after flying over Lighthouse.

Special thanks to Sol Satin and Jim Cortina for helping, at least for me, on a challenging day of hawk watching.
