Ontbirds subscribers, The male Prothonotary Warbler reported earlier is delighting many birders today and was still being seen when I left it about 15 minutes ago. It is being seen adjacent to the Waterfront Trail in the far northeast section of the woods. Follow the Waterfront Trail east of Thickson Road S. until just before it turns north at Corbett Creek marsh toward the water treatment plant. The bird is feeding continuously quite close to the Waterfront Trail on its south side among some of the largest willows just north of the largest patch of marsh marigold. Many dozens of people have seen it with a little patience. The fallout of migrants was quite good overnight, with many birds foraging at or below eye level in the very cold conditions at dawn this morning. So far today, there have been at least 26 species of warblers identified in the Thickson's Woods area. Even this afternoon warblers are still quite actively feeding and singing. Park here or on either side of Thickson Rd and take the Waterfront Trail (gated, just north of the cul-de-sac) east to just before where it turns north where it reaches Corbett Creek marsh.
