FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tacoma On the Go Presents May Walk Tacoma Event: Women’s Impact on Tacoma – Past, Present, Future
TACOMA, WA — Tacoma On the Go invites community members to join the next installment of the 2026 Walk Tacoma Series on Wednesday, May 13, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM in downtown Tacoma.
This guided community walk will explore the stories, voices, and contributions that have helped shape Tacoma across generations. Participants will hear from local speakers who bring the city’s history, leadership, and evolving identity to life through personal perspective and shared experience.
The walk will feature special guest Ramona Bennett, Puyallup Tribal Elder, author, and longtime advocate, who will share select accounts from her memoir, Fighting for the Puyallup Tribe. Her participation offers a powerful opportunity to reflect on Indigenous leadership, resilience, and the ongoing impact of advocacy in Tacoma and beyond.
Beginning at Tollefson Plaza and concluding at the University of Washington Tacoma campus, the walk will connect participants to stories of the past, present-day changemakers, and emerging voices shaping the future.
Walk Tacoma is a free community program designed to encourage walking while highlighting Tacoma’s neighborhoods, culture, history, and civic life through guided experiences led by local voices.
