Hey, I'm curious:  What power level is this divider expected to handle?

Dana,

A couple of hundred watts would be enough...I have a Microwave Modules
transverter, a brown-face Mirage 100-watt brick, and a pair of
K2RIW-19 antennas, all obtained "on excellent terms."  Kicking it old
school.  I'm not really thinking of upgrading beyond 100w any time
soon...

Dana,

Most common power dividers will handle 1KW at 432 and lower frequencies. The limitation is typically the input side N connector. A DIN connector could be used to insure 1.5+ kw on the input side, with N connectors for the 2 or 4-port ends.

I disagree on one point:
Most common power dividers only handle up to a watt or so and are intended
for small signal applications.  These are widely available through
Mini-Circuits
and any number of other RF and microwave component suppliers, and in some
frequency regimes can even be easily home built.

Anything that can handle hundreds of watts qualifies as "high power", and
is a
whole other ball of wax.  It would have been helpful if Ethan had mentioned
the
desired power handling capacity in his original enquiry, along with a rough
number for the desired port-to-port isolation (which is yet another ball of
wax
since it depends on the transmitter's output impedance, rarely near 50 ohms
or
even  known with any accuracy.).

Cheers all, and I hope you have a good time at the picnic.  I miss getting
up
north to visit now and then.

Kind apples and oranges.  Commercial vs. amateur radio.  Dana high power or uses of power dividers in ham radio mostly falls in the stacking of antennas or amplifier building which kind means needs to handle power as we hams like to transmit occasionally and HP on U & Vhf.

Randy, perhaps my judgement is colored by the fact that I've had zero
interest in transmitting
for a long time.  My interests lie virtually-solely in reception of
off-the-air signals and analysis
of phase stability of any narrow-band components I can exploit.

To each his own ...

Dana,

Most common power dividers will handle 1KW at 432 and lower frequencies.
The limitation is typically the input side N connector. A DIN connector
could be used to insure 1.5+ kw on the input side, with N connectors for
the 2 or 4-port ends.

Dana,

A couple of hundred watts would be enough...I have a Microwave Modules
transverter, a brown-face Mirage 100-watt brick, and a pair of
K2RIW-19 antennas, all obtained "on excellent terms."  Kicking it old
school.  I'm not really thinking of upgrading beyond 100w any time
soon...

?Before I build or buy one that needs to be shipped, does anyone

have

an
extra 432 2-port power divider laying around?  I'm planning to come

to

the

picnic this weekend.  I'm not really in a huge hurry to get this,

but

the
picnic is a target of opportunity, so to speak.

Thanks/73,
