Hello All,
I have been following the Xantrex/Trace discussion and would like to offer
an alternative. Since my boating is currently based in the Netherlands, I
learned about another manufacturer of inverters, battery chargers, etc. ---
MasterVolt (http://www.mastervolt.com/)
Last summer I had installed an inverter/battery charger unit (a Dakar
12/1500) and control panel - a full sine wave inverter and 65Amp battery
charger. So far I am real happy with it, in my opinion it is very stout and
well made. It also has a 3Amp trickle charger for the engine starting
battery plus several other features like a selectable inverter low output
mode for running digital clocks and other small AC loads.
In the Netherlands, MasterVolt is a major supplier to the boat builders with
a very complete line of electrical components. MasterVolt has offices and a
distribution network in the US but I haven't heard much of them here. Seems
a pity because they have a classy set of products.
Just my opinion -- your mileage may vary.

I am upset with Xantrex/Trace because they will not support my premium
quality U2232 32 Volt Inverter. They say it is out of date, and can not
help me. It has a blown transistor.
I have always considered Trace a premium brand. That is why it is on my
boat.
Has anyone else had problems with these folks, or is it just me?
