Low RPM Running

Yes you can run your engines at low rpm Patrick. Checking with the factory
regarding 1300 to 1500 rpm they said the engines will probably last for
ever. Every 10 or 20 hours of running run the engines up to near their top
rpm for about 5 to 10 minutes and watch to see if you are throwing any
carbon or smoke. If they are burning clean reduce your rpm and keep on
cruising. What you are doing is cleaning the turbo fan blades of any carbon
deposits.
Keep on truckin'

Is anyone aware of an active marine radar transponder?  I am aware of the
passive corner reflectors and passive electronic receivers that are
available.  I am referring to an active system that would respond to being
painted by a radar sweep by transmitting a signal on the same frequency.
Somewhat similar to transponders used on aircraft but designed to alert
surface and air search radars.  Air traffic control radars are designed to
query aircraft transponders, so a airplane transponder could not be used.

It seems to me an active transponder would be an asset, especially in
avoiding shipping or in an emergency.
