Good morning,
With the exception of the Woodland Nature Trail, bird activity appears to
have slowed down since yesterday. Cool but mostly calm conditions (light
SE winds) greeted visitors first thing this morning. The tip area seemed
especially quite. The only warbler seen there on the first hike was a
YELLOW WARBLER!
Unfortunately, the HERMIT WARBLER found yesterday at 3:30 p.m. has not
been relocated this morning (as of 10:30 a.m.). It was last reported from
just north of the Sparrow Field at 8:10 p.m. April 30th. Rest assured, if
it reappears we will post updates.
Highlights reported today include a male PROTHONOTARY WARBLER, LOUISIANA
WATERTHRUSH, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, RED-HEADED WOODPECKER, RED-BELLIED
WOODPECKER (all from the Woodland Nature Trail), as well as MARSH WREN,
SWAINSON'S THRUSH and MERLIN.
The Windsor weather forecast calls for rain to develop this evening and
continue through tomorrow. Winds will shift to the East tonight and then
northwest for tomorrow. Based on this infortmation, it appears unlikely
many new migrants will move in overnight. We'll keep you posted just the
same.
Good birding,
Karl Konze, Pete Read, and Phil Roberts
