Help on LiveUSB SDR Environment for N200

I have procured two N200's for my organisation but only one Live USB environment. I can only boot from this but can't install to hard disk.

  1. How can I install to hard disk from the Live USB, so that multiple laptops become usable with N200?

  2. How can I make a copy of the Live USB flash drive to another USB flash drive stick, which can then be used to boot a laptop?

  3. Does this copied flash drive have to be 16GB only? Can't it be lesser, say 8 GB?

  4. I have also downloaded the .tar.gz file with the file system for the same from Ettus site. How do I use it to make a Live USB?
Any help will be highly appreciated.

This capability does not exist yet.

You can either directly copy the stick using the 'dd' tool, if you have a
drive of the same size, or a simple 'cp -R' in Linux, or you can use the
tarball of the casper-rw partition hosted on the website to manually create
your own stick: https://www.ettus.com/product/details/LiveUSB  using these
instructions: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LiveUsbPendrivePersistent

**3.    **Does this copied flash drive have to be 16GB only? Can’t it be

You'll need to look at how full the LiveUSB drive is to see if it will fit.
It might not fit.

Dear all,

I'm a beginner in SDR and want to start quickly to get familiar with SDR
together with your USRP devices which are already in place. For my project I
have to install a completely new test environment. Therefore I want to use
the LiveUSB on my own USB stick to speed up the installation process. But I got
stuck in doing so.

This problem has already emerged recently and answered by referencing the link
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LiveUsbPendrivePersistent.

Unfortunately this site contains extensive information of how to create a
LiveUSB in many different ways but not sourced on tarballs. For somebody like me
who isn't that familiar with creating bootable devices it's not easy. It would
be highly desirable to get some kind of reproducable "instruction guide" (on
your site):
"How to bring the casper-rw.tar.gz file onto an own USB stick"
in order not to lose much time on this kind of work.

I could imagine that this would be also helpful for other users. We want to
concentrate on the work with your USRP devices and not waste time in setting up
any environmental matters.

Maybe some other format (.iso) can be provisioned to simplify the process to
create such a LiveUSB ?

I'd highly appreciate if you could help me (and others).

with kind regards
Günther
