Hi All.

I am a lurker on the list, so my first post.

With the discussion on phase noise, I have been looking around for a way to measure it on an amateur budget.

I came across the PN2060A Phase Noise Analyzer, a low-cost, US$480, Chinese analyser that uses cross-correlation of two reference oscillators and then computer analysis. The author answers email and seems keen.

It seems pretty good and works the same way as modern phase noise analysers.

Has anyone tried it?

There is a discussion on eevblog about it.

Hi

Based on what I can see, this is very much “early days” for this device. 40 minutes to get
to -170 dbc and no real ADEV info both would be gotcha’s to me. That all could change /
might change / may have already changed.

I’d wait a couple months and see how it looks after they spend a bit more time working
things out.

Given the quality of the nanoVNA H4, I'm buying a tinyFPA as soon as they are available. You can flash an nanoVNA H4 into a tiny PFA, but then you lose use of the VNA until you flash it back.

Hi

The data I saw suggested that you hit -170 at 100 hz and -180 further removed in 40 minutes.
Close in, they got to around -125 dbc at 1 Hz. All of this is averaged data with (I assume) the
same signal into both ports. The lumps / bumps and spikes came in well above these levels.
