Hawk Migration definitely got a much needed kickstart today at Audubon
Greenwich with 277 raptors counted from 9 AM-6 PM. This included 189
Broad-Winged Hawks (mainly between 2-3:30 PM), 46 Osprey and 10 Bald
Eagles. Warbler movement also picked up after yesterday's wind shift with a
nice variety around the front fields highlighted by Nashville, Magnolia,
Black-Throated Green, Parula, Black & White and several other species.

The extended forecast shows Southerly winds for the next couple days but
hawkwatch sites north of us also had decent Broad-Wing totals today
including over 300 at Mount Watatic in MA. Thursday's forecast shows a
shift back to North winds so as of now that looks like the most promising
day this week for a good hawk flight. Regardless of the weather, our annual
FALL HAWK WATCH FESTIVAL is THIS WEEKEND (Sept 17-18) with live raptor
shows, great food, vendors and hopefully hundreds of hawks overhead for
your enjoyment. Hope to see alot of you there!
