Cranberry Marsh Hawk Watch
Saturday, September 10
Whitby, Ontario

A total of 42 species were seen or heard from the observation platfrom

migrating hawks
Osprey- 5
Northern Harrier- 3
Sharp-shinned Hawk- 42
American Kestrel- 12
unidentified- 5

Total- 67

Other birds- Great Egret- 5, Ruby-throated Hummingbird- 15
Virginia Rail- 1, Bairds Sandpiper- 1, Common Gallinuel- 4,  Warblers- 2
species
Glossy Ibis- 1 (south-east corner of marsh- seen from beach looking north,
at 9 AM, birders looking later could not find it)

Monarch Butterflies- 55
( I quit counting when the flight got higher)

Visitors- 20

Weather- winds from the north-east, switch to east

Directions: Exit from the 401 at Brock St. in Whitby, go south on Brock
St. to Victoria St. Go west on Victoria St. to Halls Road. Go south on
Halls Road to the second walkway going east to Cranberry Marsh.
