Nocturnal Nectar Feeders - Who?

AD

On two or three mornings recently I have found my 2 hummingbird feeders almost empty, having watched hummers feeding as it got dark, with plenty of nectar in the feeders (I filled them yesterday afternoon - they also visit many flowers nearby).  There are at least 4 hummers - no other birds visit these feeders, and, sadly, don't have any bats this year.  Could it be moths?  Could they drink that much?  Very curious!

I had a squirrel who would tip the hummingbird tube feeder and help himself to some nectar.

Thank you - I've never seen a gray squirrel approach either feeder by day (one would fall down if touched) but two people have suggested flying squirrels at night.  Interesting possibility.Angela

Long shot. Bats. Mainly in the Southwest, but who knows.
