Funny thing Vic, I have the same problem on a friends boat. In his case some
of the electronics on the little board that is part of the pump itself are
fried. I have spoken with a couple of techs at Simrad (who bought out Navico)
and they tell me the parts to repair it are not available. I poked around the
web a little looking for a compatible pump to no avail. Simrad suggested
replacing the PH8000 with a AP26. They did say that the old Navico pump (PU1
IIRC) may be usable if you bypass the board on the pump which looks like it
may be doable with a little creative wiring."

I had a similar problem with the same pump several years back. Fortunately I
had bought a spare years earlier. But I had a technician tear into the
malfunctioning unit after we got the wiring diagram from Simrad. He initially
thought the issue was in the board, but eventually pulled the motor apart and
found the problem was a worn armature and brushes. A local motor shop turned
the armature, replaced brushes and bearings and the rebuilt one is awaiting
the day when the old spare goes TU. And by the way, the technician said that
all of the components in the board were of a very high quality - MIL spec
stuff.
