The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show set for Nov. 5-9 will feature an array of catamarans at Catamaran Cove.

With the goal of developing the largest catamaran show in the world, organizers of the 56th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show announced the addition of Catamaran Cove.

Located at the Pier 66 show location, the dedicated catamaran section will feature power and sail catamarans. There will be about 20 catamarans on display, ranging from 35 to 95 feet, from manufacturers that include Gemini, Horizon and Gunboat.

Hi  Georgs,

Sounds like you are still involved with all things catamaran.

I am winding down. Particularly long range travel.  My son Dan is in the
process of  taking over Wild Wind IV. This last year we moved from the West
Coast to the East. We had a great time in BC and Alaska. We left the PNW
with mixed feeling. Passing through the Canal in late Feb. Traveling down
the West coast was easy traveling just like the last two times. The first
was in '79 with Wild Wind I. It was a very rough ride moving north from the
Canal to Nicaragua. It was nice in Belize, but Dan had a rough ride from
Belize to FL.

Right after Christmas I will return to WWIV which is in Indiantown FL and
take her to the Bahamas and share time with Dan for the winter. The plan is
to bring her back to Lake Superior late spring or early summer. Maybe we
will stop by in Toronto. Our route is not yet set.

WWIV is holding up well having traveled over 80,000 miles.

Hope everything is well with you. I hope we will meet again in person.

Dennis

Interesting to hear about this 'change' at Ft Lauderdale Show.

I tried for several years to get a spot at the Lauderdale show to display a
model of my proposed 'Gamefishing Cat', but was basically ignored as they
were full-up with exhibitors and didn't appear to have any great interest
in multihulls. I did manage to get into the 2005 Miami Show (couple of
photos in the links provided), but being located over in the 'Strictly
Sailing' section bought me limited contact with the powerboat crowd that
just might have yielded a progressive client that might have considered the
fuel economy and long range aspects of a 'gamefishing under sail' vessel.

I think the boat market is finally returning,...slowly, and I will consider
the possibility of getting into next year's show.

Great to hear from you, Dennis!

Lin and I haven’t spent much time on At Last! this year or last, but we are talking about doing the Down East Circle Route in 2017, possibly as our last hurrah.

Glad to hear Wild Wind IV will stay in the family. With 80,000+ miles in her wake, WWIV must be the most traveled power catamaran on the planet.

We live on Frenchman’s Bay just east of Toronto and might be able to arrange a guest slip for you when you come down Lake Ontario next year.

All the best!
