Thanks for the kind words. It's a joint effort from all of us and the
community of course. We wouldn't get this far if we don't constantly
get feedbacks, bug reports, suggestions, and sometimes hassling from
all of you (I could use less of the later ;-) ).
So kudos for everyone!

The IPP release is very exciting. I found a couple of small compile issues
I would like to bring to your attention.
Instructions say to define PJMEDIA_HAS_INTEL_IPP. I believe define should
be PJMEDIA_HAS_INTEL_IPP_CODECS
In ipp_codecs.c, the matching #endif for the line #if
defined(PJMEDIA_HAS_INTEL_IPP_CODEC_AMR) && PJMEDIA_HAS_INTEL_IPP_CODEC_AMR
!= 0 goes five lines too far.
Excellent job. Thank you for including IPP support as part of your system.
Best regards,
Archie

Hey Archie,
Where are the IPP related instructions?

Hello,
I have seen IPP related release. Are these codecs supposed to work with
Symbian port as well?

Manoj

If you want to achieve something similar to IPP, the S60 APS for Symbian
9 should be integrated inside PJMEDIA to handle directly the hardware
codec support of S60 APS.
This will cut-off some feature like "conference calling", but this would
be the best approach in terms of performance and integration of pjsip on
S60.
Consider that APS provide you even AMR 4.75 with DTX (statistically
average 2.36kbit)!
If you want to invest following that path let me know
Fabio
Thanks for replying Fabio. What about open g729 ?...i guess someone has
already integrated it?

provide you also the G729 codec:

Do you suggest that i write new mediaLib (Media_Symbian may be) and use all
audio related functions (codec,Playout, transport)....can you give me some
more idea on this?

Nanang or Benny, do you have some suggestion to support Manoj in
implementing APS directly inside pjmedia libraries?
Do you think that that kind of integration could be directly committed
inside pjsip svn like an "official support" of S60 hardware accelerated
codecs, even if it will cause some features not enabled anymore?
Manoj, are you going to publicly release such kind of changes directly
inside pjsip project?
The results could be that on S60:
A) you want to use accelerated codec and royalty-based codec like
G729/AMR for free on S60 you will loose some pjsip feature but will not
have to pay for royalties and have a very low cpu processing requirements.
B) you want to use all pjsip features and not use a royalty-based codec
like SPEEX on S60 .
What do you think of the possible result of such approach?

Fabio

At the present state, yes, AMR NB/WB are supported, but we lock the AMR mode
to bandwidth efficient and we don't support negotiating AMR options in SDP
yet. But as I said, it's still under development, so I'd rather not say
anymore about which or what features are supported or not supported since
it's not final yet. So lets wait until it's done, shall we. :)

Fabio,
Yes i intend to release it, thats the reason i am concerned about ways to
preserve most of pjsip code. I would like to follow apprroach "A" in which i
can use g729 or may be g723 also. I want to use in such a way that it uses
APS calls only for required functions and uses pjsip for rest of the
functions.
What do you think?

Hi Manoj,
hooking directly inside pjmedia does not mean trowing away a lot of
pjsip code.
As far as i understood the biggest feature that will not be present
anymore will be the "conference calling" and some PCM level processing
(that i don't know exactly the requirement)
Maybe hooking inside pjmedia would also mean having the APS not only
provide the hardware-royalty-paid-for-free codecs, but that it would
also directly manage the Voice Activity Detection, that's a very
important feature in order to statistically reduce the bandwidth of 50% .
Benny, Nanang am i right or not?
I still did not analyzed in the details what would mean integrating APS
inside pjmedia even if it seems like the most "clean" design for Symbian
S60 integration, because directly leverage the platform capabilities.
