Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsWe're finally ready to leave Grand Mariner Marina on Dog River in Mobile,
AL, if we can see. Fog the last several days and heavy rain today. Plans are
to anchor in Ingram Bayou and visit with Bob Austin, stops also stops at
Destin, Panama City area to visit with Rich Gano, and the Werts. Then on to
Apalachicola to cross to Clearwater.
We've found this marina a good place to stay: Sixty cents a foot per day,
$6/foot for month plus electicity, Two good large tiled showers, clean
laundry with two washers and two dryers at $.75 each. They have a
do-it-yourself yard, with 35 ton travel lift. Least expensive in area for
haul-out: $8 per foot for haul-out including blocking and wash-down of hull,
$15 per day with first weekend free. Allow live aboard whle out of the
water. The Mariner Restaurant is very good. Dog River Marina across the
river has a good full service yard where do-it-yourself is allowed. It is
more expensive. Also allows live-aboard while out of water. West Marine has
a store on the premises. Turner Marine is next to Dog River Marina also has
a yard, catering mostly to saliboats. There are three other smaller places
with travel lifts.
