Howdy Ashley,

Cheers,

Could you all share this with your networks?
I've taken on stewardship for the trail behind the Zoo Maintenance yard
(parallel to Animal Loop Road) and will be doing 4 work parties this year
there. Nerd out factor is, I will do a little native plant walk at the
start as there are some fun things to see even this early in the season.
March 1
9:30-10am native plant walk
10-12 blackberry, foxglove, and thistle removal
appropriate for age 12+ with parent (we'll be using loppers and wrestling
with prickly canes).
Here's a link to the event and registration form.

I'll get the rest of the dates set "soon" and share
with you.
The long term plan is to restore the trail with native trees/shrubs grown
from cuttings (and woodland wildflowers grown from seed collected there),
from plants along the trail (planting will be during the fall). It's a
great spot (for birding and wandering), wide smooth trail, close to the
zoo, and a lovely welcome to the forest (and, it will be close to Phase 2
Loop paved trail).
Thanks, Romey
