I got it. I just wondered whether the RC wants racers crossing the line in the middle of a race?
The usual Sunday Sailing Instructions read:
OBSTRUCTIONS 10.2. A boat that is racing shall not cross the start and/or finishing line(s) except when preparing to start, starting, or finishing. Except at those times, the start and/or finishing line(s), including the marks bounding them, are designated as a single obstruction.

Kat,
I'd say it should not be necessary to modify the SI diagram. Buoy racers know to go to the next turning mark. And, if you put the "string" outside the line, someone might ask if the line is closed. Having two dotted lines only encourages more questions. We can confirm with everyone at the Competitors' Meeting.

Hi Lee and Cruising fleet!
I am glad you are excited about this event. Unfortunately, we only have 5 Sonars available (Thank you Sonars!!!). Therefore we had to choose just one cruising team to represent the cruising fleet. I will leave that up to your fleet but just FYI we will be racing with spinnakers. In years down the road if we can have more boats available and maybe use the Ideals we can open this up more. As you mentioned we don’t have a boat available to the laser fleet. I have spoken with them and they are okay with this given that most laser sailors are also a part of another fleet. Again I am aware this event will not be perfect the first time but we can continue to improve it as the years go on! 😊
I will edit the NOR as per your suggestion thank you for that!
In regard to the Sis I was just using the club ones and modifying them for this race. We can talk about that at the Skippers meeting but to address your question now on course F the boats do not have to go through the start finish line but they have the option to as there is only one fleet racing. Starting finish line is open. I can try to edit the course F diagram so that the second lap doesn’t go through the start finish line.
Thanks for your input.

Hi Kat,
This event should be really fun!
I would like to point out that there are two Cruising Fleet Club Champions, one in the Spinnaker Division and one in the Non-Spinnaker Division. Your e-mail below references that only one team from the Cruising Fleet will compete, and I’m hoping you might change that to include both Fleets.
Also, the Notice of Race (The 1st Annual Champion of Champions Regatta) 3.1 Eligibility states “The skipper must be a 2018 one-design Nyack Boat Club Champion”. Could we please add “…2018 one-design or Cruising Fleet Nyack Boat Club Champion”.
In the Sailing Instructions, 15.2 Time Limits – “Any boat that has not finished within 1 hour of the first finisher…”. I would think in the interest of fitting in many races, you might want to reduce the time limit for a TLE to 30 minutes after the first finisher.
Did the Laser Fleet decide not to compete because they are a single-handed boat?
Lastly, I am pleased that you included the Course F race course option, but I was curious if all boats must cross the starting line after the first lap of the course?
Thanks for doing this! It should be a great day.

Subject: [Members] Champion of Champions Regatta
Dear NBC members,
It is my pleasure to announce a Champion and Champions regatta happening Sunday May 26th, 2019 in Sonars at NBC! As most of you know a Champion of Champions regatta requires that the previous season’s fleet winners will race against the other fleet’s season winners in a chosen one design boat. This year that boat will be the Sonars (Thank you Sonar fleet!).
Five teams, one from each of the following fleets will compete; Ensign, Sonar, Thistle, Lightning & Cruising. A team made up of 1 skipper and 1-2 crew will rotate between boats after each race in a round robin format (exceptions will be made for skippers with different physical requirements). Each Sonar will have a boat owner present or elected representative which will stay on that boat for the entire race. Attached is the notice of race with more details in regard to registration, damage deposit etc.
Since this is our first year running this event I would ask each participating fleet to contribute $10 for their champion as getting a perpetual trophy has been costly. Start talking to your fleets and get your team together where the 1st place season winner is the first choice, then the 2nd place winner and so on. I am the chair for this event so any questions you can email me ( mailto:Katesswein@gmail.com Katesswein@gmail.com)
Thank you!
