Hi all

Last weekend, I visited the Branford Supply Pond and took some pictures of
the mallards.  I noticed the females were much brighter in coloration
(brighter tans) than I recall from previous years.  Any thoughts on this?

Don't know the answer to your question but I had two fm at Fannie Stebbins/Longmeadow MA, Wednesday, side by side and kept trying to figure out why one was so much lighter/brighter than the other.
Took pictures which I did not post - would be really interested in hearing other peoples thoughts.
