Skipper Bob will probably chime in here. He makes the point that with
distances going out and back in most of the inlets is is not worth it
to go outside for day trips.  One obvious leg is to go from Beaufort
to Wrightsville Beach NC.  Easy in and out and the ICW here has many
problem spots.

Will be traveling south from Norfolk to Florida in late Nov, headed for
Bahamas and ask if anyone has recommendations for best places to go outside
to reduce trip time, if weather is good.  Don't want to travel at night and
can make 13kts so 120ish nm is doable.  Looking for easy entrance and exits
with easy access to marinas or anchorages.
My first cut says any of following may be ok:  Leaving Southport for
Georgetown is ~70 miles, then another 60 to Charleston, then 98 to Savannah,
then 130 to Jacksonville.  All very rough distances from overlay chart.
Any past experiences or thoughts appreciated.
